Here, love is not a feeling but a principle — that which connects scattered and separate things. Zofia Pałucha paints from photographs — press, film, private, and police — and moves between them without changing her tone. Tenderness coexists here with violence, and personal experience with the story of someone the artist will never meet. She does not establish a hierarchy between them, and that is the very point of the exhibition: the moment when different lives cease to be separate, if only for a moment.
In her latest exhibition, Zofia Pałucha examines one of the most common — and at the same time reductive — descriptions of identity on social media. “A mother of one” is not just information about family status; it is a label that, in the digital world, is meant to define a woman, assigning her a specific practical and social value. The artist shows that behind the innocent phrase “bio” lies a whole spectrum of experiences: from the biological hardships of motherhood, through voyeurism, to systemic violence. This is an exhibition about the invisible. Pałucha’s paintings resemble a crime scene report or an X-ray. The author lays bare the mechanisms of power and desire, depicting women as objects of perpetual judgment — whether they are climbing stairs, expecting a child, or falling victim to human traffickers. This is a brutally honest portrait of the present day, in which the body is both a temple and a commodity.
