In her latest exhibition, Zofia Pałucha analyzes one of the most common — and at the same time most reductive — descriptions of identity on social media.

“Mother of one child” is not just information about family status — it is a label that, in the digital world, aims to define a woman by assigning her a specific utilitarian and social value. The artist shows that behind this innocent phrase in her “biography” lies a whole spectrum of experiences: from the biological hardships of motherhood, through voyeurism, to systemic violence. This exhibition is dedicated to the invisible. Pałucha’s paintings resemble a crime scene report or an

X-ray. The artist exposes the mechanisms of power and desire, depicting women as objects of constant judgment — whether they are climbing stairs, expecting a child, or falling victim to human traffickers. It is a ruthlessly honest portrayal of the present day, in which the body is both a temple and a commodity.

Zofia Pałucha, born in 1993 in Częstochowa, earned her Doctor of Fine Arts degree in 2024. She lives and works in Wrocław.

Her painting combines personal experiences with political commentary, presented from the perspective of contemporary digital media. Pałucha creates sketches on her smartphone by processing amateur photos, random shots, and film clips. She uses apps that allow her to create new meanings from fleeting and often overlooked images. The artist is interested in how the intimate sphere — the body, sexuality, and the experience of motherhood — functions in a world dominated by media, technology, and politics. The fluidity and diversity of the imagery she employs reflect the complexity of contemporary life, in which the private is inextricably linked to the social and political. Her works are multilayered and open to change — they offer a subtle commentary on the fragility of human agency in a world full of tensions and upheaval.
