HOS Gallery presentation brings together the work of four artists – Kama Kicińska, Marta Jamróg, Julia Szczerbowska, and Dina DINKA Leonova – who engage in a shared dialogue about the origins and complex structure of the female world. The artists examine the forces that shape identity, desires, and destiny, merging biology, imagination, and inner life. Kama Kicińska and Marta Jamróg focus on the moment when life and identity are formed. Drawing on Lacanian psychoanalysis, Kicińska explores motherhood as a powerful form of excess that transcends biology, while analyzing the structure of desire. In turn, Jamróg uses her vibrant, surreal canvases to question predestination and free will, treating the maternal womb as both an intimate and cosmic metaphor for the very act of creation. Julia Szczerbowska addresses themes of climate depression and hydrofeminism in her large-scale paintings, exploring human emotions, eroticism, and loss through the lens of rich religious symbolism, alongside the motifs of shrouds and incense. The presentation concludes with realistic watercolors on canvas by Dina DINKA Leonova, which serve as a personal diary of migration, motherhood, and longing for a lost home. The exhibition not only documents the artists' private experiences but also raises universal questions about our shared future in the face of environmental and social crises.
