THE LEGACY OF ROMA HAŁAT
Born in 1937 in Bydgoszcz, died in 2012 in Lodz. She completed her art studies at the State Higher School of Fine Arts in Lodz and studied in the studio of Stefan Wagner, then of Teresa Tyszkiewicz, whose work had a significant influence on her artistic attitude. In 1962 she began teaching at her alma mater. She was appointed Tyszkiewicz's assistant in the Textile Print Design studio. In 1959-1963 Halat belonged to the literary and artistic grouping "Nowa Linia". She was a co-founder of the group "Konkret" (1969). Since 1985 she cooperated with Gallery 86 in Lodz. In 2007 she received the Silver Medal "Meritorious to Culture Gloria Artis".
The artist's works are in the collections of the Art Museum in Lodz, the National Museum in Szczecin, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Radom, the Mazur Museum in Olsztyn, the Albertina Museum in Vienna, the Mondriaanhuis Museum in Amersfoort, the Museum of Fine Arts in Moscow, among others.
