KAROLINA WYSOCKA

Karolina Wysocka is a visual artist working in graphic art, ceramics, textiles, installation, and photography. She explores issues related to cultural gender, social norms, sexuality, and criticism of patriarchy and capitalism, which she expresses through evocative abstract forms or references to the natural world. In her works, she often refers to contemporary literary works, poetry, philosophical essays, as well as Japanese culture and art. She graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk and the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague (Netherlands).

 

She lectured in painting and drawing at the University of Arts in Poznań and the Koszalin University of Technology. Her works have been shown at many individual and collective exhibitions, including the KABK Gallery in The Hague, Sculpture Center in New York, Łaźnia Center for Contemporary Art in Gdańsk, Arsenał Gallery and Stary Browar in Poznań, Cascada Art Space in Barcelona, and Studio Tsukimisou in Kyoto. She currently lives and works in Barcelona.
