Kama Kicińska (b. 1975) is a visual artist based in Warsaw who works with photography, sculptural objects and ready-made objects. She completed a bachelor’s degree in creative writing at Middlesex University in London, studied photography at Paddington College in London, and studied psychology at SWPS University in Warsaw and group psychoanalysis at IGA Rasztów in Warsaw. She has worked as a photographer in London and as a creative director in the publishing industry in Warsaw. 

In her work, she explores unconscious social, cultural and material relationships, drawing on psychoanalytic theory. She analyses emotions and the ways in which they manifest, as well as our relationship with matter and its symbolic significance.

She is interested in emotions, the ways in which they manifest, and affective relationships with matter and its symbolic meaning. In her works, she addresses themes of helplessness, control and the formation of identity, using everyday objects and images that balance between dreamlike perception and revealing realism.

 

Since 2023, she has been carrying out artistic projects utilising photography and objects. Among other things, she works with broken glass sourced from jewellery production waste, treating it as a symbol of excess and luxury. Her photographs oscillate between dream and realism, and in her most recent projects she explores the process of identity formation.
