IDA KARKOSZKA

b. 1985

Sculptor involved in environmental and social issues. She is the author of, among other things, a famous protest action - pulling up a sculpture of a horse on the road to the Morskie Oko lake, artistic comments on the way the fur industry operates, the poisoning of the Odra river, or tree felling in the Białowieża Forest. In his work, he criticises social inequalities and fights for animal rights. For her, the medium of sculpture exposed in public space is a tool to express emotions, force reflection and initiate dialogue. Karkoszka's sculptures have been presented at many important exhibitions including the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw, the Centre for Polish Sculpture in Orońsko, the Malta Biennale, Studio Cannaregio in Venice and the Mark Rothko Centre in Daugavpils. Her works are in the collection of the British Museum in London.
